Lawler has voted repeatedly against a woman’s right to an abortion and even voted for a bill that could allow doctors who perform an abortion to be thrown in jail. And Lawler is part of an extreme group of Republicans who would seek to ban abortion in New York.

Lawler has attended events for and spoke at the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Rockland and praised the center for helping mothers and families.

Crisis pregnancy centers like Care Net in Rockland County often provide medically inaccurate information and are known to manipulate women to prioritize their anti-abortion agenda.

When he’s in New York, Lawler pretends he works with Democrats and isn’t a MAGA Republican, but he spends his time raising money for Donald Trump and pushing Trump’s agenda instead of working for us. He even embraces the extreme rhetoric that prevents anything from getting done in Washington and was recently caught on video saying all Democrats “hate this country.”

Lawler has repeatedly voted to cut funding for law enforcement and repeatedly opposed common sense measures to crack down on violent gun crime, like raising the age to buy semiautomatic weapons and banning the high-capacity magazines that make mass shootings so deadly. Lawler also supports letting civilians carry military-style assault weapons in our communities.

Lawler took thousands from the insurance industry and opposed lowering health care premiums, voted against coverage for mental health care, and opposed capping the cost of the lifesaving drug insulin. If Lawler had his way, insurance companies would be able to deny people health care if they have pre-existing conditions like cancer and diabetes.

Lawler voted 19 times against protecting Social Security and Medicare benefits for people who spent a lifetime paying into the system. He opposed lowering prescription drug costs for seniors and protections for nursing home residents, and threatened to make it harder for New Yorkers to get the pensions they were promised.

This election will determine which party controls the House of Representatives. If Lawler and Trump win, Trump will have a majority in Congress and no one to stop him acting like a dictator and threatening our democracy. Women have already lost abortion rights because of Trump; next time it will be Social Security and Medicare.

Lawler claims to be a friend of Israel and the Jewish community but he endorsed a candidate in Rockland County who has repeatedly made antisemitic comments — even calling for violence. When Jewish leaders criticized Lawler’s endorsement, he stood by the antisemite. Mike Lawler also accepted large contributions from Harlan Crow, a billionaire megadonor who has a collection of Nazi memorabilia. Lawler has refused to condemn any of Donald Trump’s dangerous antisemitic rhetoric or behavior.

Lawler voted to cut education funding by 30%, which would have forced local school districts to raise taxes to make up for the lost money. And Lawler supports diverting taxpayer money from our public schools to private schools.

Our broken immigration system is overwhelming our communities and costing taxpayers money, but Lawler is playing politics instead of doing something about it. He opposed a border security deal agreed to by Republicans and President Biden because Trump wants to campaign on the border crisis. Lawler is just another politician who puts politics ahead of doing the right thing.
